Fruit Juice Concentrates in Türkiye As many species of fruits and vegetables produced in Türkiye, the cultivation is done widely along the Mediterrannean and Aegean coasts throught the year. The annual fresh fruit production in Türkiye is more than 10 millions tons. Grapes, apples, pears, peaches, apricots, figs, cherries, plums, quinces, strawberries, rosehips and pomegranates are the most outstanding species. Among various processed forms, fruit juices have always been one of the most popular forms of processed fruit in the world. The Turkish fruit juice industry started its production in the late 1960’s and has flourished rapidly due to modern production units, new investments and the advantage of abundant fresh fruit production. Source: Turkish State Planning Organization The fruit species that are processed into fruit juice in Turkiye are apples, sour cherries, apricots, peaches, oranges, grapes, tangerines, grapefruits, lemons, strawberries and pomegranates. Apple juice concentrate is the main production item and sour cherry juice is the second major product in the sector. Almost all of the above mentioned fruits are obtained from the domestic production, but occasionally apples are also imported due to insufficient domestic production. |
